This Week in Plasma: Final Plasma 6.3 Polishing
I wonder if we’ll get the build tomorrow or if it’ll be a day or two?
At ARCH, we usually wait at least 1-2 days
That’s what I thought I remembered. I am waiting impatiently, having decided to not load the testing branch this time
I also havent the testing branch on my system.
I take the fully matured 6.3
Running it since the weekend. Didn’t notice a single issue so far. Maybe the smoothest release in a while upcoming? - I’m jinxing it right now!
I’ve been running Plasma 6.3 Beta 2 for over two weeks now on a production machine and it’s been pretty close to perfect. Then I just just use a web browser, Thunderbird, Remmima, libreoffice and a few other basic applications.
It’s KDE Day, and Antonio Rojas and the Arch Linux packaging team are doing the lord’s work to get the updates ready: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/users/arojas/activity
While you wait for the packages to land, you can also read the announcement and change logs: https://kde.org/announcements/plasma/6/6.3.0/
The packages are now in Extra-Testing.
Anyone who has been running the 6.3 Beta - remember to downgrade your QT packages from 6.9 back to version 6.8 before updating to the Plasma 6.3 release version. If you don’t do that, you will end up with an unusable system (as I did). Thankfully I have Hyprland as a fallback system.
Can someone confirm that aur/fooyin stopped working? Crashes here sigsev apparently hitting something in the breeze theme.
I’m assuming you’re posting about a fooyin crash in this thread because you’re on Plasma 6.3 Beta?
First the beta, the extra-testing release now.
Well you did say you were going to jinx it.
I’d wait until it’s official. But, change theme from Breeze to anything else and see if it still happens. Either way, you may want to start a thread since this is bound to be a fooyin-specific issue. Better not to hijack this thread.
Good idea, indeed Fusion and Oxygen themes work.
PS: In the past we mostly kept the immediate “here’s our plasma update experience”-thread together.
