KDE Lockscreen Controls

Have a relatively fresh install on my new laptop. Went to open the laptop and I am completely stuck on the lock screen, I can use the touch to make the password prompt appear but am unable to input into the password field. I cannot see my mouse anywhere on screen and the only keys that do anything are the laptop function keys (brightness, volume, etc). The power button also will only wake it, pressing on the lockscreen does nothing. Right now the only thing I can think of to fix is to wait for the laptop to die.

Ok managed to spam touch the switch user button which allowed brought me to a screen that let me spam touch the restart button. Regardless I would like to figure out how to prevent this from happening again

Welcome to the forum @2ncs !
What is the output of this line?
sudo dmesg -t | grep -i i8042
Did you lock it by Super+L or did your laptop go to sleep after the default 15 minutes?
