KDE Linux Immutable Distro

I think I’m going to give KDE Linux a try. I have on a USB, booted into a live session. Yeah, it’s alpha. But It worked well via USB on the Thinkpad, and Plasma is is 6.7.

Keep us updated

Just barely scratching the surface of KDE Linux. I’m definitely liking it so far. No real theming yet, just Breeze Dark. I did add a custom Fastfetch. Still need to figure out how to get an image in Fastfetch, though. Not super familiar with the Zsh shell. I added @dirn’s Yet Another Monochrome Icon Set as well.

Let the investigation and tinkering commence.

I have tried it.

It is still pretty experimental in my opinion.

That being said, the concept is good. Will be interesting to see where it goes.

have it installed on a old laptop that i sometimes update… looks good but agree with what dalto said

While it’s only been about half a day, she’s pretty solid so far. Granted, this is my first forray into any immutable distro. But getting the full, as intended, KDE Plasma experience is quite nice.

Thanks @UncleSpellbinder!
I’m also curious to see if my current theme and icon set work out of the box or if they’ll need some tweaks for a seamless look in Plasma 6.7.

@dirn, Polar Dusk…

Thank you so much @UncleSpellbinder

Updates, both system and Flatpaks, can be handled via Discover. Being an Arch (Antergos/EOS) user for so long, I still prefer updating the system via terminal. KDE Linux has an interesting way of doing that…

➜ ~ updatectl check
TARGET UPDATE
host 202605232010 → 202605240254
➜ ~ updatectl update
host@202605240254: ✓ Already up-to-date
➜ ~

Is this similar in other immutable distros? Or would this be KDE Linux specific. Just curious.

The icons are adapting to the color scheme perfectly out of the box. No tweaks needed there! I did notice a few KDE apps have different names now, though.

Sorry @UncleSpellbinder, I don’t have any experience with immutable distros. Hopefully, someone else can chime in with an answer! :slightly_smiling_face:

updatectl is part of systemd. I don’t know any other immutable distros that use it.

Have it running within qemu without any issues, will give it a few days of hard use.
