"KDE Is Old, Buggy, And Outdated"

Yep, I’ve seen the “KDE Is Old, Buggy, And Outdated” comment in various subreddits, forums, and Linux groups. And I disagree with that blanket statement wholeheartedly!

Another excellent Brodie Robertson video breaks down that bold statement.

They’re kinda right, KDE is old, but it’s also been basically rewritten several times…so it’s not so old?

The only thing that is old is Windows! … and it’s broken.

Just fired up the old Netscape Navigator and did an Altavista search for this KDE thing. Looks pretty new to me

I dont think I need to watch to video to guess this is some sort of mixture of users not understanding things and/or just flagrant trolling.

KDE Plasma is not old our outdated.

It does not look so either. Though out-of-the-box aesthetics ranks almost absolute last as things important to me when it comes to software.

If someone is using old or outdated software through some set of circumstances then .. well .. it may be slightly old, but probably not by much or at all if compared to environments that actually do sit and age like XFCE.

kde is pretty, customizable, functional and works for its users.
they lay the same ‘outdated’ jibberish with bugie and cinnamon too (my preferred). any of those DE’s are pretty, customizable, and functional.

let “them” talk

Broadie didn’t say “KDE Is Old, Buggy, And Outdated”; he’s debunking that statement in the video.

Right - but he posts the clickbait title which will now become a theme across YouTube and reddit.

Which is why the title is in quotes and the video thumbnail everyone sees says “But Is That Really True?”

Don’t judge a YouTube video by it’s thumbnail

Yeah, I have been hearing about this KDE and just installed it to my 233 Mhz PC. Took three hours to download via my 56 KBps dial-up, but damn! This thing looks amazing! What a marvelous age we’re living guys!

YES! YES! YES! That’s the real spirit!

I use KDE most of the time but compare konsole and gnome terminal.. the latter looks nice and neat by default. No matter how I configure konsole, I never manage to get it as nice looking as gnome terminal. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but…

I’m the other way around. No matter how I configure Gnome Terminal, I never manage to get it as nice looking as Konsole.

If you use Gnome you better Gohome! Your not part of the KDE club.
