Not sure what your on about? I haven’t used any other firewall.
What I am on about that the systemd firewall comes with its own configuration file (as mentioned in the first link) so you don’t have to use the firewall system setiings.
GUI is available as firewall-config which comes with firewall-config package.
And? - This problem has probably been lurking since at least September 2025. I’m not against having a separate config tool as an option, but if there is an entry in KDE Settings for firewalld and it does detect the installed version, I do expect it to work like other tabs within kde settings window, not give me an auth loop (once-time prompt is fine)
If what you are referring to is firewalld, it is not part of the systemd as such. It’s a firewall daemon which of course relies on systemd to work.

If you have a problem with KDE you should post that in the KDE forum, because they are the developers, and there is nothing the EOS developers can do about it. And for your information the only things that are in the EOS repo, are eos specific things like the welcome app.
Okay, so the category is wrong, i get it. BUT kde folks says it’s a problem with EOS.

To be honest I don’t see a problem because the firewalld config file is just much better then the system settings for the firewall, and is a good “workaround”.
I think you could edit your op and “re-categorize” it to Desktop Environments > Plasma or General system > Applications
Good workaround, yes, but this kind of UI friction is completely unnecessary, that’s the issue.
You do not need to like having all settings in one place, but it should at least function normally.
But EndeavourOS is not packaging kde packages basically.
We do not install plasma-firewall package by default, so if you do not want this issue remove the package and it will not be there.
On EndeavourOS firewall-config is installed to configure firewalld with a gui.
There are updates in the testing to soon be landed in the regular repos.
Not sure if that would have addressed the issue you are having.
I thought EOS did package KDE for theming and additional features.
Anyway either there was a change or it got installed when trying to work out network shenanigans, possibly as a dependency back then. I don’t remember.
