KDE Desktop: Do I need to install "Default X11 System" for Wayland only?

Just installed EOS from the new Ganymede Neo ISO with KDE Plasma Desktop. I wanted to have a pure Wayland system, so I decided to disable all Default X11 System packages in the Installer.

Do I need these packages when I want to use Wayland session only? After installing I had to remove package plasma-x11-session, because it was installed anyway.

Any advise?

You never need to select that section for a plasma install. plasma will bring in the pieces of X11 it needs as dependencies.

Feel free to deselect them all.

I didn’t. It was selected by default from EOS Calamares Installer.

That’s what I did. So no need for me to reinstall them because something could be missing … Good to know! Thanks, @dalto ! :+1:

They are in there by default to make sure for all Desktops to be complete.
And we have KDE X11 session option installed by default too, what is in the KDE/plasma group [plasma-x11-session] thats what you could deselect if you do not want X11 at all. (still will have some components, for xwayland e.t.c.)
