I use KDE connect to transfer files between my computers and my phones. In general this works fine but there’s one thing bugging me: For some reason, the app does change the file extension of certain files when transfered from computer to phone. I transfer a .m4a file and end up with a .mp3 file on my phone. I transfer a .opus file and it’s changed to .oga
Does anyone here maybe know why this happens?
I don’t have any .opus files, but I just transferred a .m4a file from my laptop to phone and yes, it transmogrified to a .mp3
I’ve found this bug report where it’s claimed that it’s an Android issue.
When I renamed the file back to .m4a, it played OK on my phone

Nice find, thx! If the comments there are correct it looks like it’s indeed an Android bug. And a strange one…I would maybe understand if the m4a gets renamed to mp4, but mp3?? And yes, files play fine, even if you don’t change the extension back.
