Yea if one doesn’t have it set to autologin. Otherwise it’s off to TTY land to switch to x11.
Does autologin not work?
edited my above post to show my Radeon RX 6600
autologin does work
Edit: I missed your correction. Sorry!
Sorry I was referring to when I did his install yesterday before I knew about the issue. During install I chose autologin cause I wasn’t expecting issues. Today I installed his normal Arah flavor and made sure I didn’t check autologin., so he’s happily sitting with a good install on x11 and set for the time being to autologin to x11.
I’m also thinking the power devil issue is unrelated to the mesa issue. Not sure what would be causing it.
Edit: Of course i could be wrong.
as more and more hardware gets introduced into the userbase’s systems
the inability for ONE developer to test on all combinations of hardware decreases
perhaps an advantage for Mac OS hardware systems?
Perhaps … I have little exposure to using MAC. Wouldn’t mind a MAC desktop but i have a problem with the pricing.
the newest model Mac Mini M4 with 16 gb RAM is reasonably priced for a desktop computer, depending on the user’s requirements.
Apple’s computer hardware pricing is above my budget.
(apology for off-topic comments)
Getting off topic here so i better …
Yes you are right. I got the 6600. I am going to update the new version of mesa right now.

EDIT: rebooted and everything works well with zen kernel
Just got the mesa update on my roommates machine, boot Wayland without issue. Looks great.
Updated to mesa 1:24.3.1-2 and all seems well again, - days like this, I absolutely get the logic behind @dalto’s advice, - don’t feel the need to update every single day…
Still, it’s impressive to be able to wipe and reinstall in less than ten minutes and be back up and running as if nothing had happened in twenty. Down to a fine art…
I’ve been eyeing the LIbrem mini. Better specs and all.
Same thing here. Yesterday’s update broke my system. AMD graphic card.
I tried the rollback by booting into the ZEN and LTS fallback with initramfs and without, and still no desktop.
I’m not sure what to do. I’m downloading the latest EndeavourOS image on an Apple laptop and will put it on a USB drive. I’m not sure what more to do. Thanks.
I tried downgrading my entire system and it was still broken, so no clue what was the cause as I couldn’t pin it down to a specific package.
Honestly, at that point, my recommendation is to just do a fresh install and restore your personal data from backups. It’s one of the very few times that an update has completely borked my system in many years. Still running Arch & EOS with KDE, that’s not going to change.
I am partial to AMD CPUs
They’re great on toasted rye bread with a dash of mayo.
Trying mesa 1:24.3.1-2
Rebooted and everything works great!
It happens rarely, but sometimes things are gonna break with arch, that’s why its always good to take snapshots, or at least have a recovery drive handy
