Ya I’m not sure why it happens. But it’s like it’s not loading or some issue with the desktop window manager sddm when the login attempt is made? Or something?
Is your Plasma Desktop running with Breeze? Or do you have any other theme? I have also disabled the eos-welcome app.
Just breeze. I didn’t try disabling eos-welcome. Maybe i should try that. It is working on mesa
Version : 1:24.3.0-1
Edit: Disabling eos-welcome makes no difference. What ever change they have made to mesa from the previous version is the cause.
I would see it the same way. There must be a bug in the mesa version
@swh
I see in the above link by @Bink the user is reporting using an RX 580 which is close to mine and i see others with RX 570 also. Not sure about newer amd gpu’s which yours is a 6600!
Agree, this is hardware dependent
My 7600 seems unaffected.
That’s so weird, I have a 6700XT coupled with a 7800X3D.
I have this exact issue as well, using a RX 580 GPU. Im not using KDE though. Using sway (wayland)
Currently running greeted tuigreetd, lxqt and labwc got also issues.n telegram turned of my openly and firefox don’t start lol
I.am curious later on lol
Had same issue today when updated. I used eos-shifttime to roll back all the changes and it fixed it, so I am not sure what actually caused it.
I do have an AMD cpu and and AMD, (Vsiontec), video card.
I did change to the x desktop before rolling back and everything worked fine, so wass sure it was only the wayland that was affected.
Chiming in, I have the same problem with my KDE system using RX480 on mesa 1:24.3.1-1, which is updated an hour ago. Looking at the arch package archive repo, they have already uploaded 1:24.3.1-2 version, and so the mirrors I’m using are probably late. So instead of downgrading I just directly install that version instead, and it’s fixed… for now.
Seems like a lot of bugs have been getting passed through for Polaris cards in mesa nowadays. I only notice bugs on games, never something that interfere with the whole system like this. This is getting quite concerning.
I thought it was my roommates hardware so I reinstalled his OS only to find out it was a update issue. I got lucky myself. I built a new system yesterday so I missed the mess. I did do my updates this morning but after realizing it was software I haven’t dared do my reboot.
Already fixed in testing repo, hopefully will be released soon.
COOL then when I go to do Gary’s updates tomorrow hopefully All will go without a hitch.
I see it in extra testing repo. I’ll wait for it.
RX580 here, same issue, downgrading mesa restored desktop. Now waiting for fixed mesa.
Some real weirdness with this one, as I can get in to my system, but it’s slow as heck, and some Qt apps like Dolphin don’t load, but konsole and krunner does? It takes a couple of minutes for the bottom launcher to appear. So weird.
That sounds like something entirely different. We are getting only apps that we had set to autolaunch on startup opening, no wallpaper, no panels / docks, no access to other apps, etc…
I’m amazed that no one has said if the mesa update has made it to official channels yet. I really would like to get my roommates machine back to normal.
Yep, - whatever happened completely borked my install. Just wiped and reinstalled, - for the sake of 20 mins, I’m back up and running. Gotta love a strong sync and backup plan!
Edit: Well this is hilarious… I didn’t realise my NAS had gone down, which handles my DNS and routing. Looks like an overnight powercut I didn’t catch. Doh…!!
