KDE 6 Remote Desktop Not Connecting

EndeavourOS (EOS) doesn’t come with ‘remote desktop’ functionality pre-packaged in KDE 6. I’m wondering if installing KRDP is all that’s needed to enable it? I’ve added KRDP to my EOS machine, but I’m unable to connect to it from my Vanilla Arch system using KRDC.

I’ve managed to connect successfully using this setup on KDE 6 between two NixOS systems, so I’m puzzled why it’s not working between Arch and EOS. Could I be missing something?

Have you opened the port in the firewall and installed the package freerdp2?

In my case, I keep the ports closed since I use the Tailscale tailnet IP to connect, rather than my device’s network subnet IP.

I have not installed freerdp2. Are you saying it’s also required?

If you are trying to make connections over the rdp protocol then, yes, it is required.

In cases like this, it is always good to check the optional dependencies of a packages.

Looks like freerdp2 is already installed on both EOS and the Vanilla Arch system.

I’m gradually getting back into the swing of things with Arch and only reinstalled Vanilla Arch this past week. For the past few years, I’d been using NixOS, where the remote desktop feature comes pre-packaged with the distro. On NixOS, the firewall is also managed through the Nix configuration file, instead of relying on applications like firewalld.

Looks like something else is preventing this connection from initiating
