I’ve been using KDE for as long as I can remember, - at least since KDE3.. If you can, pop them a small donation, it all counts!
Eh…i wait until thy are 30 ![]()
But anyway KDE is great!
I think my first touch with KDE was from Knoppix (propably 3.3.) somewhere 2003, I think. So version had to be something like KDE 3. But it’s quite possible that it was even older one. ![]()
Knoppix was such a great “mobile distro” - loved how flexible it was for turning any PC into your own.
It was.
It was actually my first touch with Linux. I had seen an article about it on computer magazine and wanted to try it out. Managed to get it to boot and played it with little and returned to Windows XP. ![]()
But somehow I think it left it’s mark… ![]()
Congrats, KDE! - A long way so far…
I started at KDE 1.0 in 1994 or so - WOW!
Many things have been a bit ‘raw’ - but a consistent system, serving most of the daily tasks.
Worked on KDE for - I think - about 10 years, not sure, what version then. I think 3.xx.
What I missed more and more this time was the lack of actual and useful documentation and the permanent changes ‘under the hood’. - In principle positive, but if you run into trouble and cannot find useful documentation (poor internet this time) - thats no joy.
So I switched to LXDE, then XFCE and feel much better now.
Some single KDE-apps still have their fixed place here.
But as whole system it’s ‘too fat’ for me and over the years something like foreign…
KDE is my jam. The best desktop and even more than a desktop. I seriously think that KDE makes Linux usable for me. I have tried many other really. Liked none of them. None can replace KDE for me.
So i say happy birthday. May you be around for so many more decades.
Happy Birthday KDE. You rock baby.
KDE is the BEST Desktop environment for Linux. Nothing comes close.
