Just the Browser

My favorite computer magazine has an article about “Just the Browser”.

Just the Browser helps you remove AI features, telemetry data reporting, sponsored content, product integrations, and other annoyances from desktop web browsers. The goal is to give you “just the browser” and nothing else, using hidden settings in web browsers intended for companies and other organizations.

Very interesting. I learned something new. I didnt know about firefox policies. What they do and how they are implemented. The “just the browser” github page has instructions and links to the official documentation.

Lots to play with….

Chrome based browsers are covered too.

I have witnessed this project and tinkered around with it a bit, but the start itself is - imho - just really really bad:

/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/corbindavenport/just-the-browser/main/main.sh)"

omg. When do people stop this…

I only need one policy. Block AI Completely!

The main exception is page translation in Firefox.

That’s AI we deem worthwhile! Sure, why not. Everybody can form their own opinion of what is actually useful for them I guess. What’s the reason settling on their definition?

I second this.
