Just sayin

I installed EOS a few months ago before the Nvidia hoopla … It works fine, I love it
Now I just read the thread and wait
I mean why update when everything is hunky Dory ?

Because otherwise you will missing critical security patches?

You don’t need to update every day but you shouldn’t just ignore it for long periods of time.

Is it a serious question?

There arent really ‘nvidia problems’ .. just a slight manual intervention required.

For a rolling-release system .. you will compound problems - that is possibly creating more or worse ones - by waiting.

Furthermore there are implications to consider such as missed security patches or lack of compatibility.

EOS is a rolling release system, so not updating every so often is like letting insignificant problems snowball into more apparent problems.
So better to roll with the latest updates than to deal with headaches in the near future.

Debian trixie should be available soon, including the 6.12 LTS kernel and other cutting safe edge features such as KDE plasma 6 and/or Gnome 48.

But it’s not hunky dory. It’s got pending updates, which could be important security patches.

All updates that I have applied considering Nvidia have installed completely fine and never have had issues with them. On clean install of EOS last week (tried my ropes with CachyOS, but decided it’s not for me in the end) I had no issues whatsoever considering Nvidia; on the other hand I had to once again apply band-aid to my iGPU, which has always caused me issues if I don’t add kernel-parameters to it. However, after that, it works fine. Like my Nvidia.

More you wait with your updating, more files you will have to upgrade and more you probably have to mess about. If you follow instructions on here Forums, you will most likely avoid problems with your update-marathon.

So update. :vulcan_salute:
