Recently I decided to switch to Linux and I heard the interview is the best one I can get but the problem is that it uses a very heavy desktop environment like KDE plasma and because of the heaviest of environment it crash midways so it would be very nice if the endeavor OS team change the KDE desktop environment to lxde because it’s lightweight and fast so please make it happen
What type of hardware are you using? EndeavourOS runs fine in a VM with two cores and 4GB of ram on my 10 year Dell Optiplex 7010. I am trying to picture an older, less capable machine.
Are you saying the installer is crashing?
It seems unlikely that is due to the desktop environment.
Can you better describe what is happening?
Welcome to the forum
Why is it important and what interview are you referring to ?
ah one of this puzzle posts
@ydhdj welcome here and sorry to hear you have issues with the OS, but we need more info on what exactly happens to you and where exactly.
In case it’s about installer/install process
- how you create the installer media (p.e. USB DVD) ?
- what is your used Hardware specs?
Don’t fully understand what you’re saying, but I’m not sure you can legitimately expect a distro to change their default desktop environment based on a singular subjective opinion.
If you need help, you need to provide a little more information about what you’re trying to do, - as for KDE Plasma, it’s far from heavy..
Here we go again.
School semester is about to end and kids are starting to have more time.
Already thought this was a childish post in the first place.
I’m running it on a former Chromebook with 4GB RAM, 32GB eMMC drive, Pentium N4200, and Intel HD Graphics 505. I have no issues running E_OS. It certainly isn’t “snappy” on this device but it works and doesn’t crash. There are plenty of distros that specialize in being lightweight which might suit you better if you feel this does not perform as you desire.
The problem we are running into with your post is there is a lack of information. It sounds like you want to use a light desktop (LXDE) on top of Arch linux. You watched a video .. perhaps share the link to the video.
That being said there are a slew of desktop environments you could use:
Perhaps you can help us out by running this command in terminal and sharing your hardware setup:
inxi -b
Additionally your title " It’s important please help" is not appropriate for these forums. If you want to get feedback on “How do I install LXDE” in EndeavourOS, then that should be your forum post title.
Maybe a little empathy should be shown here as it is this guys first post. Likely not experienced. Any of you who have been in the Arch forums knows what it is like to deal with the harshness. EndeavourOS is a different place. Lets try to put our best foot forward please.
you don’t want LXDE as bad as you think you do. It might be light but it’s so much to tweak. LXQT as well. I had to learn how to use a compositor, install it, and write the config myself. This is not what newbies should be doing.
This is what advanced users with windows managers do.
KDE in relation to other DE’s…I’ve never head it was ‘heavier’ but I don’t use it and can’t say.
Just want to run with Linux and make it easy?
Budgie or Cinnamon or you might warm up to Gnome. KDE is responsive too–many more options–but again, I don’t use it but it is the most popular.
Baby steps. It’s an adventure.
EDIT: Sorry I did not start with ‘welcome.’ Welcome.
I like how the OP just shared one post and we’ve 10-12 comments from different users, and it keeps coming…while in other distro forums it’s the reverse.
If it’s important do share asked info and try to be active on the forum at least for your own issue.
Is it just me? Or are more people posting requests for help and then rarely (if ever) checking back?
This OP appears to be more interested in lodging a complaint and suggestion rather than a request for help. If the OP wanted help, they would have checked back and began answering some questions and giving more detail.
Just change the KDE Desktop Environment to lxdi for the live environment in the new Endeavour ISO build so it can be less leggy to install and doesn’t Crush in the middle of installation thank you
I doubt this will get you what you want.
It’s not Just Endeavour OS any destro which uses kde plasma Desktop Environment as a live USB environment it doesn’t install and crashes in the middle of installation
