Thank you Bink, I didn’t realize @LuigiP was a first timer.

Okay. So my next question is do I need to keep that temp folder once it’s finished doing what it’s doing and where is it installing it to?

That folder is no longer needed for Vivaldi to run and such. If the AUR package is updated to a newer version, that will come through as part of your regular update process (eg: yay).

You can uninstall that package the normal way too (should you choose to):

yay -R vivaldi-multiarch-bin

However, the reason you might want to keep that temporary folder around is the current package maintainer seems to have dropped the ball. The package hasn’t been updated in 16 months and is many versions behind. It has now been flagged outdated and there is a pending orphan request for that package.

You might find yourself needing to manually update it, the same way you did today, if no reliable maintainer picks it up.

Thanks again. Hopefully I’ll be able to remember how to do all of that.

Being able to edit and adjust PKGBUILD files was a real game-changer for me. It’s liberating, and one of Arch’s great strengths. It’s a skill worth chipping away at.

Take it from a Decades long Linux experience. The best tool you can have is a “Brain Book” as I call them. Mine is a 5 inch by 7 inch spiral notebook. Some folks around here use a note book application making it easier to copy / paste info.

Okay. I’m going to copy your directions into a text document then.

wait till you use PKGBUILDs to cross-compile linux kernels using 3 different devices simultaneously :sunglasses:
