Installing EndeavourOS Linux on an old MacBook Air (2016)

I couldn’t wait to share with you how EndeavourOS runs smoothly on an old MacBook Air (2016); it brought it back to life:

I must confess EndeavourOS (my favorite distro) has not been the first choice for installing Linux on this computer:

A terrible mistake: after upgrading from 24.10 to 25.05 the system did not boot anymore… I shouldn’t have trusted Ubuntu again  Shame on me! What was on my mind?! :face_with_peeking_eye:

And they say Arch breaks…

By the way, while Ubuntu does not automatically handle the WiFi card, EndeavourOS handles it automatically even in the live system!

I’ve done some EndeavourOS installs on a Macbook Air 2011 and 2014 laptops. Maybe you can reference this in yours:

There is also this reference to get the Macbooks camera working:

I picked up a refurbished 2017 MacBook and tried Ubuntu first and it did not run well. The trackpad was “sticky” and not as responsive. I put in Endeavour USB and even live it ran perfectly. It picked up all the broadcom drivers as well. I happily am running Endeavour with XFCE desktop. It is so fast, better than the OSx (was past EOL anyway) that was on it. Thanks team!

good to hear that!
