Installation stuck at 13%

That will just make the first update harder and more complicated.

This still looks like a hardware problem to me.

why it will make it harder and more complicated?
I’ve never had a problem with that
i can install it 5 min
works every time

Because the OP is having trouble with the update from a couple of months ago. With an even older ISO now you are downloading even more packages because you are now updating 4+ months of updates all at once.

yes maybe if one uses offline
I used online install
you are probably right with offline install
but I never use offline always online

Edit:
i have tried them all de and wm with online install
and it works every time

@Deadlyhydra
What @pebcak suggested was the correct thing to try installing kernel and headers from chroot.

do I really need to install endeavouros-2021.08.27-x86_64.iso
and I take offline install
just to prove it

He just means all the base packages are months old. Those are on the physical ISO. SO those can be dated. An important one is firmware since that is dated date of creation. There was a period of time I could not install the ISO because my hardware required firmware that was newer then the 4 month old package on the ISO.

i think also the issue is not about the ISO or issues with updating software… it looks lie an issue with hardware causing error on the files not written or getting corrupted…

But I am currently testing automatic rebuild of the ISO where it builds ISO with updated packages but the same installer as on release:
https://github.com/killajoe/EndeavourOS-ISO/releases/download/2022.02.26/endeavouros-2022.02.26-x86_64-958de952b9ac707b47ab9ddf6aca8a01.iso
I tested this one and it installs offline just fine… online should work also.
The only difference to the release is that it has latest packages from yesterday.

This was not hard or complicated

it was very easy :slightly_smiling_face:

I have suspicion I may know what is causing the issues.
Just a poll here… A kernel driver, irrespective of the OS, would be loaded in the HAL. Am I correct in thinking this is the case?

You are completely missing the point and taking this further and further off-topic.

The OP has an issue where nearly every operation he tries either fails or causes his PC to completely crash. He can’t make it through an online install or a simple update.

My point was that, because of this highly specific issue the OP has, going back further would exacerbate his issue because he is now pulling in even more updates. More updates doesn’t make the operation less error prone.

I never said it was impossible to install or that you couldn’t do it.

No, Linux stopped using the HAL a long-time ago.

Have you done a thorough stress-test of your hardware?

Not yet, not had the chance.

maybe I misunderstood what you meant
my mistake
sorry for that

That would probably be more beneficial than further re-installs or troubleshooting at this point.

or at least pastebin the journal to see if we can see any kernel messages that would lead to see what goes wrong:

journalctl -b -0 | eos-sendlog

I have a feel though as i did make a change software wise in windows post first offline install and since I have not been able to update the offline install successfully.

Having just checked Wikipedia there is an article on there for Ext2Fsd which states:

Don’t use Ext2Fsd 0.68 or earlier versions with latest Ubuntu or Debian systems. Ext2Fsd 0.68 cannot process EXT4 with 64-BIT mode enabled, then it could corrupt your data. Very sorry for this disaster issue, I’m working on an improvement.

I wonder if this was the cause of the kernel message although Eos being an Arch based distro…

Ext2Fsd now uninstalled from windows… Will check what happens and if i am able to update eos without any issues following the removal… If it does, then I take all responsibility for wasting people’s time.

And wonder now, after what I learned about the archlinux-keyring if the online install will work ok. Lots to do not enough time…

Too late… Partition removed and grub also, as I wanted to test once Ext2Fsd was uninstalled. Will let you know what happens when I reinstall once again :man_facepalming:

Ok Guys, last night I managed to carry out an online install and boot from it without any issues following the removal of that software previously mentioned.

Therefore it seems that the saying after all was true lol:

Problem in chair, not in computer (Picnic) haha

Thanks for all who tried to help. Good job it wasn’ t a potential hardware failure.

Normally is lol, I know in my own case most issues are created by something I have done by misunderstanding something. Glad to see you solved your issue
