Install bibisco

Has anyone installed bibisco? I’ve downloaded package from GitHub but now what?

Never heard of it.

It seems to be an π–†π–‡π–˜π–”π–‘π–šπ–™π–Šπ–‘π–ž π–•π–—π–”π–•π–—π–Žπ–Šπ–™π–†π–—π–ž piece of software, so if you’ve purchased it, I think you’re entitled to some support from them.

there seems to be an open souce community version with a github repo

If you downloaded bibisco-linux-x64-2.4.0-CE.zip from their website, you just need to extract that zip to a location of your choosing and run the bibisco executable inside.

The project in the github repo is based on Electron and Angular. nodejs and npm should be installed on your system. open terminal, navigate to the app folder (bibisco/app) and type in the following commands.

npm install

npm start

Thank you daniel and pycrk. I’ve tried both of your methods but problem is as before: I am invited to start a new project, which I do, but when I close I can find no way of opening bibisco again.

This is the community version, not purchased.

i have tested it, it works for me. What does the npm start command show you?

npm start works fine, but only in home>bibisco>linux-x64-2.4.0-CE>resources>app

Surely that’s not right?

this is wrong, npm start is only for the version from the github repo.

the following steps from the bibisco documentation are required for your version.

  • unzip downloaded file
  • open terminal
  • navigate into unzipped directory
  • launch ./bibisco

I know this is a Bibisco thread however, I am here to suggest alternatives - if you don’t already have much written down, that is.

I created a separate post for it since others may find it useful. You can view it here: Story Writing Apps
