I might give it a go then. I reallllly wanted to love K-mail but Akonadi not seeing I’m online again after the machine has been to sleep is annoying af, and it’s a bug that’s been around forever.
I also need that feature. Does Vivaldi Mail still not have this feature? ![]()
Playing around with Vivaldi. Actually, I’m not using Vivaldi Mail. Trying if I get used to Vivaldi now. ![]()
Having tried Vivaldi Mail, it’s pretty good, but as has been said, it doesn’t allow you send mail from an alias. This is a must have for me. so it’s currently Vivaldi for browsing and Thunderbird for mail.
I used to use email aliases, but now use several different email addresses, with each having a distinct use. But I can certainly still conceive of when an email alias could be useful.
With aliases I can use a unique email for everyone I give an email to. If I start getting spam on one, I know where to complain ![]()
All this talk of email alias’s and I’ve never seen the need. So that has never been an issue for me with Vivaldi, or any other email client. I have 4 main email accounts, each with it own use.
I have hundreds of aliases. That would be a lot of email accounts to manage. ![]()
It is hugely helpful for spam management.
By giving every place you sign up with a different email address, if one of them loses or sells your mail not only do you know exactly who did it but you can simply disable that alias.
It basically completely eliminates spam.
Yeah, it’s great for that. I’ve submitted a bug report [feature request] at the Vivaldi bug report page. Whether they actually do it is up to them!
I can’t imagine that you are the first one that asks for that feature … Could you share a link, please? Maybe one can sign that request. ![]()
That’s the reason, and I’ve been doing it this way for many years. Only a very few trustworthy people have my main address.
Sadly the bug tracker is private, you can only report bugs on the Vivaldi page, all other interaction is done though email. You can report them at https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/
I’ve just spotted an email alias setting (and I don’t know why I didn’t see it before). In the Mail section of Vivaldi settings, each mail account has four tabs: Identity, Servers, Aliases and Tips. It looks like you can input email aliases on the Aliases tab.
It looks like you have to input them manually, which would take a little while in your case!
I didn’t see it either…it’s amazing what they’ve packed into that pane.
I missed that as well. While I have no use for alias’s, it’s nice to see that Vivaldi Mail has the option available.
I tested the aliases. They seem to fine.
One thing I couldn’t find though is a way to mark a message read when you view it. Has anyone found that option yet?
It’s in the right click menu for me in the message list, and also has the keyboard shortcut of “K”.
Yes, I know I can mark them read manually but that would be painful given the volume of messages I get. Most mail clients have an option that automatically mark them as read once you preview them.
Settings > Mail > (scroll down to) Message View Settings > Unread Messages > tick “Automatically Mark as Read” should do it I think.
