In case you don't like the new Reddit UI pushed out on Jan 24th 2024

Plenty of people woke up to a new Reddit UI on their desktop yesterday and were not happy with the changes made. If you want to revert to the previous UI, use this link https://new.reddit.com/

Edit note: It appears that you must be signed in for this workaround to work.

How is that different, that location just redirects to the main reddit page location.

curl -I https://new.reddit.com
HTTP/2 301
server: Varnish

Works for me. Someone posted it on Reddit and seems to working for plenty of people.

Can you screenshot what it’s loading for you so I can see?

Just visiting the site

Perhaps you must be signed in.

I woke up yesterday to a new UI and I hated it. I looked into what others thought on a Reddit thread and someone posted that link saying it should bring back the other UI. So I tried it and it worked for me and judging by the replies its also working for many others.

Try signing in if you can to see if that makes the difference.

I don’t have a Reddit account, I just checked it using curl.

Yer I don’t have a reddit account either, maybe add that the the original post so it doesn’t confuse others

Nuked Reddit long ago along with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and hibernated LinkedIn. Don’t miss them at all and happier since.

In the simplest terms I can think of…F*ck reddit

Haven’t had a Reddit account in about 10 years. Honestly, the EOS forum is about as social as my media gets :stuck_out_tongue:

It still looks the same on my non-updated infinity app as it has for months.

Don’t care about Reddit. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Reddit Ode

I want to love Reddit. I tried.
Some real smart people
having some real smart, in-depth conversations
for about 2 posts
until intellectual line of thought is
severely hijacked by fiddle dee
and fiddle dum, bitching, about inane stuff, and deviated
and off topic faster than an El Dorado
then you can’t even remember what
they were talking about.
I thought my response would look better
as a sonnet but it looks stupid becuase of the enjambment was not thought out
perhaps it could be the third response
of a reddit thread as read by Bill Shatner’

For whatever it’s worth, it’s not just a Reddit problem. It happens everywhere, even here. People will chime in with no real reason to be part of the conversation or an opinion about something that doesn’t make sense. Then the whole thing turns into a long mostly off topic derailed thing and all value is lost. Reddit is just famous for it because that’s almost ALL that’s on Reddit lol.

That’s just people’s ADHD you’re witnessing in real time.

To each their own.

Personally, I am not a social media guy, but I make an exception for Reddit because it adds value to my life. The amount of times I’ve received answers I’ve needed when I couldn’t get them elsewhere is a nice tool to have.

Even better, http://old.reddit.com still works.

Sweet. I didn’t know of this self-hosted frontend. I’m going to cook this up on my NAS in Docker and check it out.

Thanks for sharing.

I’ve tried very hard to like old Reddit, but I just can’t manage more than 2 minute with it. It looks awful in my opinion. To each their own :man_shrugging:
