I have run KDE on much slower machines than that.
That being said, you don’t have your memory or disk configurations in that output which are the biggest determining factors.

That should be sufficient I’d think.
Yeah, that should be no problem.
Nowadays, KDE plasma has become one of the lightest DEs. It’s practically, according to an XFCE developer, nearly as light as XFCE. Worry not.
Ok, thank you, good people.
This may be true for the vanilla version without any customization.
By adding scripts, plug-ins and plasmoids the RAM consumption is felt…
In a system with only 4 GB of RAM it might not be the most suitable DE, IMHO.
It depends on what you are using the machine for. Someone who owns an entry level machine, like the OP, won’t likely edit a 4k movie in the background and stream a series at the same time for instance.
For regular use cases, with an email client open and having 3 to 5 tabs open in a browser, it is fine.
@Marcin84 If I’m not mistaken, your laptop has one upgradable slot, so you can upgrade in the future if you want. That 4 GB RAM is built-in but you can upgrade that slot with a maximum of 8 GB, I believe.
My more than ten-year-old Toshiba Satellite L500-24v laptop works flawlessly with the EOS Plasma desktop. Early Intel i3 CPU, 2GB RAM. It’s true, I only use it mainly for browsing, maybe to save data. So it doesn’t matter what you want to use it for. For a long time I also ran an Xfce desktop, but I switched to KDE. I do not regret.
I’m using this laptop for internet 99% plus listening to music and watching movies.
It will run without hiccups in that case. Have fun with it.
I think I will stay on XFCE because KDE works laggy on my laptop. Or it is only because I’ve checke live usb ?
ballo was disabled by me
That is true of any DE. If you add many things which consume more RAM it will…use more RAM.
It is especially true if you if use latte dock which can be quite heavy.
I have used it on a systems with 3GB and 4GB of RAM without issue.
In the live USB, it is partially running out of memory and partially running on a really slow USB. It does not represent live system performance.
If you like xfce, I would recommend continuing to use it unless you have some reason to switch.
Jumping around because the grass seems greener somewhere else is usually counterproductive.
I don’t know if XFCE will ever support wayland. If not will Endeavor work fine without it in long term ?
We have no plans to make any changes around xfce.
While there could be some time in the future where X11 goes away. I don’t think that is anytime soon and you can worry about it when/if it happens.
You are more experienced than me so thanks brother
