When updating icons or any other program data using the standard KDE Menu Editor, nothing gets saved.
This is after 2 things had happened which are both my mistak
- I accidentally reinstalled GTK4.
- I manually placed files in /etc/ , /opt/ and /usr/ as I was very lazily manually installing a .rpm package via rpmextract, as the package was not in the AUR.
However, when starting an app with a changed icon, the selected icon will flash while the app is starting, and once started will revert to it’s default. As demonstrated in the embedded gif.
I’ve combed for an hour trying as many keywords as possible but I can’t seem to find anything that is remotely similar to this, any help would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE
Simply very tediously manually reverting the install of my previously mentioned Step 2. fixed the issue. I did this by saving the original file that I unpackaged and cross referencing every file inside to manually find where it was placed in “/” and deleting it. There’s probably a better way to do it, but this is what I did.
