I have three different Xbox controllers: one "works", another is recognized but doesn't work, and the last one isn't recognized and doesn't work

I know there are threads about it, but given my somewhat anomalous situation, as can be read in the long title of the thread, I wanted to create a thread specifically.

So as far as the controller driver situation is concerned, I haven’t done anything, in the sense that beyond what was installed in the system I haven’t added anything. And the installation of EndeavourOS is very fresh, I installed it yesterday.

I’m also a novice to the Linux environment, and to this operating system, so I would like to avoid making messes by following guides that perhaps aren’t for me given my situation with the pads.

So I have three compatible Xbox controllers, all three of which I connect via USB, and they are from three different brands (I obviously also tried putting them in different USB ports, but the behavior remains unchanged). And all three behave a little differently:

  • Harikiki brand Xbox one S controller is recognized but does not work

  • Nacon brand Xbox controller is not recognized and does not work

  • the Krom brand Xbox controller works, but in a somewhat “mechanical” or rather “edgy” way, it probably needs to be recalibrated, I tried but ended up making the situation worse, and so I went back to the default values

  • I have a PS4 pad that works very well, without any need for various calibrations.

Now, I could use the ps4 controller or the krom controller for the xbox, but I’d rather use the harikiki or nacon.

What can I do?

If I have to do something via terminal, not being familiar with Linux commands, I would ask you to list them for me, so I avoid causing damage. If I wanted I could also use octopi, which I installed. A thousand thanks.

Did you try installing xpadneo from the AUR?

Yes I did, I tried both the xpadneo-dkms driver and the xpadneo-dkms-git driver but nothing changed.

Obviously with each driver installation I rebooted and then tested the controllers. Now I uninstalled them (obviously I didn’t try them together, but one at a time).

Ok I tried another driver, namely xone.

With xone-dkms nothing changed and the xbox pads continued to not work (all three this time), obviously the driver installation procedure also installed the firmware (xone-dongle-firmware).

With the xone-dkms-git (always installed together with the firmware) the nacon pad works, while the other two xbox pads don’t.

The ps4 pad continues to work, regardless of the drivers for the xbox controller.
