“Give up” may be too strong a phrase. But I’m just so used to SystemD over the years, I just felt more comfortable using it. If I were to stay SystemD-free, Artix would be where I’d land.
Tumbleweed is an excellent distro, I used it for over 8 years before switching to endeavouros
I can understand that. I’ve been going slow as I’m a new learner to manipulating services, but I’m keen on pursuing it because of the big difference in non-systemd setups. Quite enlightening and Artix runs well, I’ll give it that.

What you need on that Thinkpad is LFS. Honestly.
It will keep you busy for the foreseeable future.

That’s where I’m at. I love using a runit (or whatever) environment but I can’t navigate it in terminal. systemctl I know really well and and comfortable navigating it. That simple.
If I was going to go to a systemd-free environment, I was dazzled by this indy out of Malaysia called Venom. Best thing I had on my Ventoy for a long time.

I loved SuSE, my last version of that was 9.0. That was before Novell had bought them. They had a 2-2.5 inch thick user manual! I tried OpenMandriva once, but it seems to have nVidia hardware. It installed no problem on my AMD CPU/GPU laptop, but on my AMD/nVidia laptop, it gave me the bird! LOL
There is suffering involved? Seriously?
My bet is 4 weeks. My 20 on the line.
But hopefully you’re on a different DE than your standard? That’s another adventure.
It’s highly rated on Distrowatch (for whatever that’s worth). I’ll check it out on Ventoy.

Tumbleweed is underrated. It’s probably the best rpm-based distro IMO.
