as i said i dont know what these things are called, so dont know what to search for. but id really like them gone as i never ever ever use them. currently on plasma but info on removing them on gtk desktops also appreciated

They are information - telling you the keyboard shortcuts - don’t think you can hide them.

There are not settings to hide the menu shortcut keys shown in menus, in KDE Plasma, MATE, or Cinnamon. (Those are the DEs I used recently.)
There is an open request for it but it has never been implemented.
