I can't get a splash screen on launch/shutdown, just kernel logs

I boot the pc, select endeavor in grub’s menu and get kernel logs/checks (not sure what that screen is called) instead of the splash screen.

both wayland and x11 have the issue. If that change anything, I launch directly into my user session.

I have a splash screen selected in KDE parameters, and never touched to dracut. my system is up to date. I can’t figure out what’s going on.

grub.pdf (28.6 KB)

The splash screen in System Settings is usually displayed after you login and before you get to the desktop. It isn’t like plymouth that shows up during the boot process instead of boot messages that are displayed.

EOS doesn’t ship with plymouth enabled so I think what you are seeing is normal.

so by default the distro just doesn’t have boot/shutdown screens and just show the boot messages?

Yes. That is correct.

ok thanks for the help!
