"I Am That Guy" - Amos Burton

The whole “That Guy” discussion on another thread made me remember this scene from The Expanse". Amos Burton, brilliantly portrayed by Wes Chatham, delivers the goods in this excellent scene from season three, episode six…

This show is - together with GoT and SoA - in my Top3 and a sure contender for the top spot. It has everything: Story, Looks, Characters (Arcs AND Development), Death, Love, Life, the whole package. And that on the highest level. And of all characters, Amos is definately the most badass lovely sycopathic coldblooded hotheaded killer you can imagine, and he sticks out of the bunch as even better. Love him!
And everytime I think of that scene “that guy” I instantly think of that one were she is asked why she can walk so well in boots, and answering (refering to Amos) “I had a good teacher”. Amos in Pumps. Just hillarious. Those two together (be it in the same scene or not) just NAILED IT. Every effing time.

Great show but it kinda failed with the ending. I don’t remember who put out the first few seasons but if they would have kept it I think it would have been a better ending.

The first season is probably the best SciFi of the last 10 years. I know most people prefer the second season, but for me the idea of a consistent story solar system with its political factions was mindblowing.

When it passed to Amazon I was so hugely bored of that season that I almost stopped watching it completely. I finally pushed through it, but sadly it didn’t get that much better afterwards. I am somewhere in season 4, and I’m hard pressed to remember what happened there. I can however recount season 1 pretty well.

I never thought this was a “16 yr kid from Czechoslovakia” in a million years. I liked his crooked sense of humor. I thought of that person as a creative person who was creating a piece of Andy Kaufman-like performance art when he posted.
I will admit that both soliciting to receive a virus and give one away for free at the same time absolutely crosses the line at a place where we try to help people not lead them into trouble. I was impressed by the chutzpah and the performance.
Anyway, that guy gone.
