so i wanted to reinstall my system (to use xfce instead of kde since my low spec laptop is struggling) and downloaded the latest(?) link from the mirror (singapore). booted up ventoy and selected the iso. now this shows up
Just run the installation script against your Ventoy stick. It will recognize you already have Ventoy on there and offer to update it for you. https://www.ventoy.net/en/doc_start.html
Make backups of course, but it does keep all your ISOs on there when you upgrade and only takes a few minutes.
Glad to hear it, you can mark the solution if you wish.
In general that is a good practice (separate topics for separate issues), but in this case I don’t think it is a big deal either way. Let’s take a look at the installation log.
2 cents: have installed endeavour 4 times. could not install from ventoy all 4 times. could only install from an etcher-burned USB stick. one man’s saga, anyway
my install of endeavourOS (before kinda borking it with my intention of a reinstall) was made successful by ventoy… i could be running out of luck but who knows
If you can get to the live environment with grub2 mode, that should be fine to install with.
The log has a lot more information than that. The picture only shows the error it failed on.
Click “yes” (on the button in your picture) to send the log to a pastebin, then add the link to the discussion here.
I have had success with it what feels like 100 times…but like you say, I have heard it just doesn’t work sometimes. I have had it fail with an out-of-date version of Ventoy, but my suspicion is there is more to it than that. I’m honestly not sure why it doesn’t work for some folks.
absolutely could even be the health of the particular warhorse USB which get worn down quite easily and not built for the heavy lifting of this business. that’s probably the case more often than not.
