[Hyprland] EndeavourOS with hyprland on Nvidia GPU?

I haven’t had luck to own a laptop/PC with discrete GPU. Now I’m thinking of getting one with a Nvidia GPU RTX 4xxx series. I’ve been using endevourOS for years now with hyprland. As I don’t have a discrete GPU I didn’t have all the problem Nividia users faced.

My questions are

  • how’s the experience with the EndOS with nvidia driver option of EndOS iso with hyprland?
  • Do I still have to patch kernel like it’s said in hyprland wiki?
  • How much of a time sink is it to use hyprland with Nvidia drivers, with the patches provided from ISO?

I have an Nvidia Quadro (older GPU) that didn’t work with Hyprland a year ago. However, it works just fine now, though I rarely use it since I just don’t want to use Wayland until it’s ready for prime time.

My Cinnamon Wayland session also works just fine.

Now, whether it will work with your future setup is not something you can really know.
Even if someone has the same GPU, Wayland, in its current state, has varying results.

You just have to try it. Or go with AMD/Intel.

Thanks, I’ll see what I can do with hyprland and Nvidia as intel/amd are out of option for me

Works fine here RTX3070, just follow instructions on Hyprland wiki.
