Is there a way to fully uninstall Plasma’s ‘clipboard’ function? (not merely disable it from the settings, but to totally and completely remove the app itself so that the system relies on the basic functionality) without crippling the system?
About 80% sure you can’t, I may be wrong though
Plasma’s clipboard manager is called Klipper. It’s located here: /usr/bin/klipper
. It’s part of the package plasma-workspace
.
You could remove it (simply delete the executable), but it will get replaced whenever you update plasma-workspace
. The only way around that is to package Plasma yourself.
Also, who knows what functionality will get broken, I haven’t tried it and it sounds to me like a bad idea.
It isn’t easily removed.
What are you trying to accomplish by removing it. Maybe there is a different way to achieve something similar.
yup, I guessed that it was overcomplicated and with a high probability of breaking stuff…but the clipboard app is the only thing in EOS that I truly find unnecessary, an hindrance even.
However, if completely removing it isn’t possible without breaking the entire system… /shrug
What is a hindrance about it? Once it is disabled, it works like a normal clipboard
