How to try Nouveau driver instead of proprietory driver or install more stable older proprietory driver

I’m having issues with my computer hard crashing over CK3 on the Proprietory Nvidia driver and I would like to try the FOSS one as I’ve heard about it, I can’t easily uninstall the proprietory driver to force it to use the free one

Otherwise I’d try to install a more stable older driver, any version recommendations?

Have you tried this:

sudo pacman -S eos-hwtool
sudo eos-hwtool --remove nvidia_open
sudo eos-hwtool --free --install-recommended

Just did, no more video or tty after booting
