How to set proxy for pacman?

Sometimes I need to use a proxy to update the system
Can i set proxy for pacman -Syu?

If set proxy in /etc/environment ,do I have to set up a proxy in privoxy config ,also?

My guess would be that you might not need to but as said before I have never tried this combination so I cannot tell for sure. Perhaps other forum members with more experience in this area could give you a more adequate and accurate answer.
