How to make Firefox Sidebar open on browser launch?

I just switched back to Firefox from Floorp, and I’m already frustrated.

Why does the sidebar keep closing every time I launch the browser? Even if I leave it open before closing the browser, it still stays closed on the next launch, forcing me to click the sidebar button every time.

How can I make it stay open on browser launch? Preferably with the Tree Style Tabs sidebar option.

Hmm…it stays open for me. I use side tabs exclusively with firefox and have never had the sidebar closed at launch.

I didn’t do anything special to make that happen.

I am using sidebery for tabs but I think the same thing happened before I switched to sidebery.

Which version are you on? I’m using 129.0.2 atm.

I used Firefox Profile maker to set up the profile, and now I’m wondering if there was a setting I checked during the creation of the profile settings that is causing this.

I am also using 129. I don’t think that is the cause.

I think you’re right. Something deeper is going on.

I just switched to Firefox-Nightly for testing purposes, and it’s the same result

Off-topic, but damn, I didn’t realize what Firefox labs had up it’s sleeve until installing this nightly….

Seems to have taken inspiration from Vivaldi/Floorp with the sidebar features and the ability to can the horizontal tabs.

I think I just might stick with the nightly now

May I ask you the reasoning behind the switch? (yes, yes, curiosity killed the cat, I know) :innocent:

Two reasons:

#1. Not a fan of ESR

#2. Firefox Profilemaker

I had a similar issue with librewolf, which is based on Firefox. With librewolf the issue was that the browser history was deleted on every exit. If the history is not deleted, the browser remembers the side bar setting. You can check if that is the case with FF as well.

Bingo, this was the problem :joy:

Why on earth they would tie those two together is beyond me.

I have to keep my history in order to retain a sidebar being opened? Rubbish, to say the least.

thnx.
