How to know when can we have the KDE Plasma 6?

This would set the scenery for a partial upgrade situation which may sooner or later lead to more issues than dealing with a few bugs and not working addons/extensions/etc.

One or other package that one or other component of plasma is dependent on may get updated and there you have it.

So I would say no.

Another option is:

  • Don’t do a system update for a month (or so)
  • Use only flatpaks/appimages/portable apps for that period
  • Understand that this presents security risks for your web browser(s) unless you also use portable apps for those
  • Also understand that not updating your system for a month could cause a few update issues that can be solved, but are annoying
  • This is what it is like to run Ubuntu, only that it would be snaps instead of flatpaks

PS: I don’t actually recommend this, but it is realistically doable imho

With Windows, you can get the latest (chiefly 3rd party) applications and drivers as soon as they become available from the original developer.
