How to controll screen brightness?

To use the nVidia:
Reboot - press F2 repeatedly and select nVidia, save and reboot.

God this was hardwork to find!!!

light -s sysfs/backlight/amdgpu_bl1 -S 50 didn’t work nor did light -S 50. Also really don’t want to constantly use the nvidia gpu since I actually need my laptop to work for longer than 2 hours, but thanks for the tip.

Then I am out of ideas, brightness works for me on both cards :confused:

Thank you any ways learned something on the way and that’s worth something as well. I’ll just ask again in a few days, maybe someone else has the answer.
Have a nice day / night / evening / morning.

UK, so evening - time for the snooker :wink:

Have you seen this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Backlight

I don’t have AMD GPU so cannot test if it helps or not.

Did you try this one of these kernel parameters instead and then update grub and reboot?

acpi_backlight=native
acpi_backlight=vendor
acpi_backlight=video

None of these options worked.

I’ve tried all those things before and none work.

I’ve got the same laptop, and no issues here as well on both endeavour and Fedora. . . .

Edit: nevermind. I’m the all AMD version.

But I am not :confused: I have a slightly newer 17 inch version of the same laptop and I have no issues.

Did you remove this one when you tried those and did you update grub first and then reboot.

video.use_native_backlight=1

Edit: Are you actually using grub? Or did you install with systemd-boot which is the default now? Because then it’s a different process to set this.

Minor side note - I freaking love this laptop. This thing is an absolute monster!

Yes, it is pretty impressive, and I have had only minor issues with nVidia :rofl:

Which laptop model is it exactly? Did you buy this one new?

This is teh Legion 5 15ACH5 or something like that I got back in June/July.

If you just installed and used the default it is systemd-boot. Then you have to add those kernel parameters here because you are not using grub then. :thinking:

/etc/kernel/cmdline

Then you have to run this to populate the entries and regenerate the initrds.

sudo reinstall-kernels

All the models i see listed now have Nvidia graphics. You got one with AMD. Now i don’t see them so they must have changed it up again. It say’s it’s Legion 5 15ACH6A but i can’t find this one on their site now.

Edit: Okay i found it under support though.

If you’re interested in grabbing one while they still exist:

No i got 2 lenovo right now plus an HP plus a bunch of desktops and a lenovo Chrome book and an Android tablet. Plus parts for a brand new tower which i need like a bad headache. :laughing: I don’t know how the Lenovo outlet site works for customers not in the US. I order from Lenovo Canada although most of the stuff gets shipped from the US.

Edit: If i look it up in Canada it has a different clearance site. There doesn’t seem to be an Outlet site.

Edit2: It say’s in the FAQ at the bottom that’s these offers are valid for US only. I guess I’d have to ask Lenovo if it can be purchased from this site as opposed to the site i usually go to.
