I wouldn’t want them storing a photo ID either. Basically, if any personal information is needed. It should be verified and then promptly deleted unless necessary to provide the service. Social Security Numbers and Photo ID are methods for identifying a person and should be done only when necessary. They are not needed to provide a service.

That’s what confused me as to how it is different, the only difference I see is the government making an extra $80 of people to get it
