Probably was vivaldi-stable --password-store=basic and the forum engine mangled the unquoted -- into a –.
That said, password store basic usually means it’s stored as plain text or very badly protected on the drive.
To get the KDE wallet settings in System Settings with KDE on EOS you have to install the package ‘kwalletmanager’. It is in extra.
This might not help you if the app NEEDS kwallet to run, but this is why you can’t see the settings page.
I am not sure what you are trying to solve here, but just to make sure you understand, if you disable all the wallets/keyring managers, your system becomes less secure. Some applications will fall back to storing secrets in plain text.
I sometimes do this with chromium based browsers as I use keepassxc for my passwords and never save them in the browser itself. It still tries to open the wallet even though it is empty.
Is this not ok?
Changing an application so it doesn’t use the keyring, is very different than disabling the keyring altogether.
As for if it is good or bad, I think most chromium-based browsers still use encryption when they aren’t connected to a wallet/keyring.
