Been using Linux for about 13 years (who’s counting right?). Been using Debian based, Ubuntu based, PuppyLinux (still do) and I was looking for something different and thought I’d try an Arch based Distro.
A member on another forum suggested EOS and had it running in a VM for a few weeks and I loved it. So I installed it on bare metal to substitute my Mint installation. I choose the Gnome DE since I’ve never used that before either. So everything is new yet it feels familiar already.
I haven’t done a deep dive into the whole Arch thing yet and for the time being I am mostly reading up on EOS, reading on this forum and so on. So for the time being I’m not much of a help in terms of assisting others, nevertheless I signed up in a show of support. See you around.
Hey! Good to have you with us! About the same here full-time since Windows 8 through anyone with low vision under the bus. So many great distros out there, the freedom and flexibility of being able to choose the tools that work for you is what really shines.
Don’t like Gnome? Pick from a dozen other desktop environments? Prefer a different shell? Knock yourself out! Want the file explorer from another desktop environment? Have at it! Freaking love Linux for all the stuff you can just go ahead and do, because it’s your system, not borrowed, not rented, not controlled. Enjoy the journey my dude!
