you should use other things besides a chromium browser. I hear brave is ok with its ad blocking but along with adblockers and using stuff like freetube there is also hblock a host blocking app in the repo’s.

I predict it will only get worse. They are now loosing shares on the search engine market as A.I is taking over. That along with a threat of being split by the US DOJ I suspect they will do as much damage as possible before they are made to. They went to war with their users and that never ends well. Look at Hollywood and the Music Industry they are dying because they decided to do the same thing.

Use Firefox(i run beta) with UBlock Origin(I have no issues so far) or SmartTube as an alternative (it kills sponsor stuff as well but can be turned on/off).

If Google detects and adblocker they will hit you with ads every ten seconds. Have you considered disabling the adblocker?

Pi-Hole or Adguard Home to block Ads. Watch Youtube-Videos with yt-dlp or use Invidious (sometimes it works, sometimes not  )

For browsing i like LibreWolf.

I wonder if a solution is give to youtube what it wants. Maybe a dedicated single-use browser, no adblock extensions, in private mode (deletes cookies and history when closed) for youtube only? Compartmentalize is my thinking.
A youtube-only browser. Spitballing.

Just sign off from your account does the trick.

Personally I use a different Firefox profile for media consumption including watching youtube. In that I have only one extension affecting yt that mutes audio during yt-ads. That’s a manageable solution here.

Watching yt on my main FF-profile with full ad-blocking: mostly a nightmare.

Brave with ublock origin is great for youtube and fingerprint blocking.
To go more deep PiHole dns with advertising block list add another level to adds block.

Never have any issues with ublock:origin.

Which, aside from being tuned rather aggressively to block third party scripts/frames and more, I also use to make the interface less garbage as well.

PS.

Kinda crazy what the yt algorithm will suggest to a blank/new user that has only searched and clicked on a single ‘linux’ video.

Brave works well. For Firefox and similar browsers, use the uBlock Origin plugin. uBlock isn’t an ad blocker, but does block ads.
