Help with wifi/bluetooth

Good afternoon all, I am fairly new to Linux, and brand new to EndeavourOS. I have brand new Asus Vivobook model S5406SA-WH79.

wifi works, but i have to manually switch it on every reboot or when awakening the laptop.
Bluetooth does not work at all. Google says correct drivers are included in 6.14 which I am fully updated as of today with 6.14.3-arch1-1

when i attemp to rfkill enable bluetooth it does not unlock:

you did enable bluetooth correct? its not enabled out of the box

well… that works now. but i still have to manually click on the radial switch for wifi when ever i open the lid…

Since this is new its possible the Linux Kernel doesn’t have an exact driver for the WiFi for this model. You could try looking up some other drivers for it. I would make sure there isn’t anything in the bios that may turn it on or off during conditions.

no, i removed the windows ssd before even booting to it. i opened up the laptop and swapped in a new ssd and installed linux immediatly after purchasing the laptop.

Not sure if you tried to edit that conf file with nano but you saved it with sudo nano in the line and there is nothing in the file that is blacklisted.

If you use nano you have to hit ctrl + o then enter to save and the ctrl + x to exit nano.

Edit: The empty file should only be /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf and empty since there is nothing in it blacklisting anything.

You may need to try disabling power save on the WiFi with

/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf

add

options iwlwifi power_save=0

Not sure why you would have to turn on WiFi manually? Are you using Kde plasma? Right click on Network icon and configure network connections. Click on the WiFi entry and check if set to connect automatically in the general tab.

yes using KDE, yes connect automatically is enabled. its as if the wireless card starts up as disabled

Check the Arch Wiki for potential workarounds.

But more importantly: are you using asusctl already ?

It also helps sometimes just to search on github for gists or even specific repositories, just by searching for the specific model number of your laptop. In this case, check on the asusctl gitlab site for similiar issues for your model.

Not sure why that would be. If it’s turned on it should automatically connect even if you were using Ethernet as long as it is checked in NetworkManager.
