Help with PAM on EndeavourOS using Plasma and Sway

Hi I am a new user of EndeavourOS, having first installed it with KDE Plasma 6 a couple of months ago.

I have since also installed Sway with Waybar and Rofi-Wayland, and I like it so much, that I have considered switching permanently to Sway, and deleting Plasma, but I would like to test Sway for a bit longer before I do that.

My problem is that when I am on Sway, I’m not allowed to enter “firewall-config” even with “sudo”.

On Plasma I get a prompt asking for my password, when I enter firewall-config.

I have also encountered this problem on Sway, while trying to start mailnag for the first time, and also a couple of other times.

I also have to type in the wifi password every time I log in, which I don’t on Plasma.

Initially I had switched to the display manager Lemurs before moving to Sway, because I had fallen in love with the terminal, as sddm doesn’t seem to want me to log in without a DE, but setting up framebuffer terminals like I want them, is a bit too challenging for me as a new Linux user.

after encountering these errors, I tried using sddm again, but it hasn’t really helped.

I would appreciate any help you could give.

P.S. Sorry about the commas, I’m not a native English speaker, and English Comma rules are very different from the ones of my language

You need a polkit agent installed and started. See for example my blog post:

Hi it’s funny you should mention it, as I started following your guide when I installed waybar.

I had hoped I had skipped that step, but sadly I had not. that line is in my config:

But perhaps I have set it at the wrong place in the config?

Thank you very much for your guide by the way, it was of much help, even though I sort of got into it backwards, as I started with the last part of the guide, and then began at the beginning.

exec "usr… should be exec "/usr…

Seriously! It was that stupid! The answer was staring me right in the face! :person_facepalming:

Thank you so much!

Am I correct in assuming, that I can return to using Lemurs instead of sddm then without having authorisation problems?

Lemurs? never used it, I use SDDM.
