Help installing drivers for a scanner

Hi there, I am 1 week into Endavor OS and about a month into using linux in general.

I want to install some software and drivers for a Canon CanoScan LiDE 300

The Canon website gives these three links for software and drivers for this device:

ScanGear MP Ver. 3.70 for Linux (debian Packagearchive)

ScanGear MP Ver. 3.70 for Linux (rpm Packagearchive)

ScanGear MP Ver. 3.70 for Linux (Source file)

Which of these links should I use and once downloaded how should I approach the installation process?

from what I could find none of these are set to work for Arch/Arch based Systems. You could try the source file from Cannon but even it says for Ubuntu and Fedora. :man_shrugging:

There are a bunch of Stuff for Cannon in the AUR you can search there and see if there is something for your printer. Personally haven’t installed a printer in over a decade so can’t be much help with that hopefully someone who does use one will be able to chime in.

canon-pixma-ts5055-complete

Looks like a good bet as it mentions E300…

Ya, install the driver from aur and make sure cups are active and enabled. Use cnijlgmon3 for scanner

I’m using the same driver for my canon pixma e470.

I have installed the package and tried to run cnijlgmon3 and got this error:

cnijlgmon3: error while loading shared libraries: libxml2.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

CanoScan LiDE 300 support should be pretty complete using sane-pixma, see compatibility list.

Sorry, it’s scangearmp2 now.
cnijlgmon3 was the old name. I remember last time I open it using cnijlgmon3.
You can search it in the apps menu and open it as well.
