Hello. Since Brother doesn’t offer packages for Arch, I installed brother-dcpt220 package from AUR and installed CUPS from this guide (https://discovery.endeavouros.com/printers/printers/2021/03/). For some reason CUPS detect it but when I click “Print Test Page” or literally anything else- nothing happens on the printer. Printer is connected by USB cable. Can someone help with it?
Did you not install printing support when installing EOS? Cups would have been installed then. I’m not sure after installing the AUR package what you did? Normally i would go to print settings in the menu and or manage printing will get you to cups. Normally i think if i remember correctly i would add the printer and select usb from print settings. Just going from memory but usb is one of the easier to set up.
Edit: I do have a brother printer btw but not that model and it is usb. So it’s probably a similar process.
Edit: Adding the printer through print settings and select usb.
Another Brother user (Brother DCP-L2530DW series), your printer shouldn’t need drivers as it supports ipp so try driverless.
That is the exact Brother printer I have. However, I have never hooked it up via USB.
Pudge
exactly this no driver needed for any modern brother printer.
Mine is an older brother laser printer with usb.
mine too. love to get in on this driver-less action but my future is with old monochromes it seems:)
I don’t see too many DCP models available? I thought it was newer but not what I’m seeing here.
DCPs have a long line production that is for sure.
Brother can you spare a driverless?
My monochrome laser is quite dated but they still make it. It’s the HL-L series laser.
HLL2315 here. Solus devs made this an eopkg for me a few years ago, and Endeavour had the driver in the AUR…
…I wonder if printer drivers will someday be retired/deprecated? It’s been a Linux journey for sure,
When I say “fellow brother user”, I have printed precisely 2 pages in a year, one test page on each reinstall of Endeavour
Same here …
