I switched from Windows to Linux full-time a few years ago and haven’t looked back. I ran Kubuntu for the longest time because I love the KDE Plasma desktop, but I think it’s time to dive into Arch and the wonderful community here around it. I love EndeavourOS for its warming community and ease of setup.
I’m excited to learn more about Arch and Linux as a whole.
Hi, and welcome to Endeavour OS. I haven’t used Linux full time as long as you (June 2024) but it has been great so far for me. I hope you have fun with EOS and the Forums.
Welcome. Kubuntu was my first distro. It made me fall in love with KDE, but I had some issues that, in hindsight, I could’ve resolved with my current knowledge. I decided to go all in and use EndeavourOS as my second ever distro.
Never looked back, never had issues with EOS, even as a complete Linux beginner, even with RTX 30 and 40 NVIDIA GPUs.
I’m currently planning to install Arch on my main rig, just so I can say I’ve done it. I’ve already done it a few times in VMs, and wrote a guide of myself that seems to work perfectly for my needs.
But that doesn’t mean I’ll disappear from here. This community has left its mark on me with how friendly and welcoming it is. Probably the friendliest Linux forum out there. And EOS will still be my distro recommendation of choice and the one I’d install on other machines for convenience.
In my opinion, it will eventually, through Microsoft’s own self-destruction, be the replacement for Windows, through its ease of installation, convenience of NVIDIA drivers and inherent potential for limitless customization thanks to being an Arch based distro.
If you have issues, the wiki and man are your friends, and if they fail you, then we’ve got your back. Remember, keep your updates in check, consult the EOS news and Arch home pages for any manual interventions required in updates, and Arch will give you no qualms.
your instincts are good. this forum, imo, is setup to address both those things you mention well–in other words this forum/live interaction/reading/search function has replaced most of my search engining (is this a word?) re: “Arch and Linux”
GREAT HANDLE and welcome
