Welcome @tstevens - your trajectory seems comparable to mine: from Ubuntu (6.6), and other *ubuntu flavours like Kubuntu, Xubuntu, to Peppermint and BunsenLabs on very old hardware. Then Manjaro, which got me into arch territory. Once I found EOS I haven’t looked back.
I worked in tech support as well: supporting workers of a telecom corporation, when they switched from DOS to Windows for Workgroups 3.11.
I discovered Arch (Endeavour) late/last on my journey and it was ‘where have you been?’ i.e. for a production tool or enjoying entertainment, ‘the arch way’ of doing things is very much in line with my mentality or the way I think things should be done in PC world
That said unlike most distros, Arch requires a commitment from you: for maintenance, to understand the role of the AUR, to dedicate yourself to knowledge and it’s wiki. Endeavour makes this pretty cool.
Tested out EOS a few years ago off and on & Decided to make EOS my permanent distro at home and occasional remote work. Sold my imac and put EndeavourOS on a system76 mini desktop just recently.
