Some time last year I started to have some problems with Win10, and then I was notified it would stop being supported sometime next year!
To make it worse, my PC does not support Win11, and to add even more troubles, I probably got malware somewhere along the line that I couldn’t properly clean (even with a fresh install of Win10, malwarebytes and roguekiller were no help either). So I decided to try Linux!
Now, again, there was yet another problem! … Since I didn’t have a pendrive, the only option I had was to install linux via WubiUEFI (which I got from github), and that lead me to my first distro- Kubuntu!.
But it wasn’t perfect. It was dual-booting in windows, used NTFS, and idk if it were the snap packages that were slow, the fact that it was in NFTS, or all of it combined, it was so slow and clunky, I might as well have been on win10 with the malware, no joke, Firefox took roughly 15 whole seconds to open, even from terminal (and the terminal took some 5-8 seconds to open as well). This did discourage me a bit but I was aware what I had done was not optimal.
Then I got a pendrive, with the help of ventoy I put the ISOs of some distros that caught my eye… but EndeavourOS was what made me pull the trigger, I wiped the whole drive and installed it propper, no more ntfs crap, no more my pc being hostage to Windows. FREEEDOOOOMMMMMM
I Installed it with KDE Plasma DE, even with nvidia card, wayland has been running without problems (well, that’s not entirely true, if I let the system lock the screen it would bug a little bit but after a recent update with 0 attempts to fix it, it got fixed !) wonderful! Or as Max Verstappen would put it : " Simply Lovely "
I want to donate to the team, I really do, but at the moment the financial situation is not that ok. But probably come December i WILL donate!
