I´m Wolfgang from Austria and just wanted to say hello and thank the EndeavourOS Team for their creation.
I always had a curiosity for Linux since I first learned about it in my IT-Technician Training but all my attempts to daily drive it where sooner or later stopped by some kind of package incompatibilites (I guess it was Suse and Fedora back then). Then MS announced Microsoft Recall and I knew it was time to say goodbye to MS - atleast for my private machines.
So I switched to Linux in December 2023. Tried Mint first but that wasn´t really my cup of tea. I then tried Manjaro but pamac crashed my system after 2 or 3 months and I was unable to tell why. I then switched to Endeavour and that felt just right from the beginning (I really cannot say why ). Had 1 major crash but with the help from Endeavour Wiki and old Forum Posts I was able to get everything back up in about 2 Hours or so.
Then today I ran into the nvidia-dkms update problem - opened the forum immediatly, saw there were already 2 threads and a solution and was up and running again in about 10 Minutes. This and the friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the forum absolutely cemented in my Distro decision and made me contribute to the project monthly.
So thanks again and keep up the great work!
Wolfgang
It’s great that you like the OS and the community.
Your path here is similar to mine, I also work in IT (Or I assume you still work in IT after training.) and the Microsoft Recall was when I finally said enough was enough, despite knowing enough was a long long time before that. And I also tried many distros myself until I ended up with Endeavour OS.
Have fun.
Additional Edit: Never mind, I noticed your profile says you are a sysadmin, so you do work in IT still.
