I first discovered Endeavour just a few days ago. I had been looking for a non-Fedora/non-Debian based OS to try out that also had ran KDE Plasma DE running Wayland. I have been a Linux Mint user full time (Windows free) since January.
As I got more comfortable with Linux Mint I started distro hopping. I started close to home, so to speak. I tried LMDE-7 first. Then Debian. Eventually, I got to Fedora 44 and now EndeavourOS. I have 3 laptops and now have Mint only on a 2021 Dell Inspiron 5502, Fedora 44 on a 2024 HP Pavilion 16, and on this 2026 Alienware 16 Aurora AC16250 I have both Mint (still my daily driver) and Endeavour.
I’m very much enjoying my early Endeavour experience thus far. And I’m looking forward to, over time, really getting into the nuts and bolts of this Arch based distro.
Thanks so much for staying til the end and I am looking forward to how things go with Endeavour.
When I first discovered EndeavourOS some years ago, having originally used more Ubuntu-based distros, the thing that really grabbed me about it, was how in-control I felt using it.
When something breaks, in many respects I think EndeavourOS is easier to fix and customise, because you have the control necessary, to do those things. Of course, that requires a bit of practice and skill, but those things come in time, for those who are interested.
Way more customization is one thing I’m really looking forward to with Endeavour. Mint is very customizable, but it is limited. It’s great for a lot of stuff, but for someone that is always “what does this do” it can get stale. Not that it’s bad, but I want more.
Hey! I’m new here as well. I also came from a long history with Debian based distros. What has been your favorite part about your experience so far? My favorite has been learning all the pacman commands I can I find it very intuitive and picked up on it fairly quickly so far, I haven’t gone deep but so far it’s intuitive! Did you find your way over here for the AUR or just the freedom of arch?
welcome to the purple forum. EndeavourOS is a bit like debian in the old days, you have to choose what you want to install and enable a lot things which are preconfigured in other distros. But it helps to get a system that fits your needs

Enjoy your time here, and don’t forget this is all about “0” and “1”, so turn off your computer from time to time and enjoy nature, too.
