I am new here to the forums, though not entirely new to Linux. I have been using Linux since 2014, starting with Kubuntu and later on Ubuntu, before switching to openSUSE, which I used until 2019. I have spent the past 5 years or so on Manjaro, which is nice and has worked well. However, I got to try EOS and I fell in love with it and its pure Arch style (I did run original Arch for some months as well, but I am not a big fan of its community and I had my issues with the OS).
That said, the experience has been smooth and fun so far, and it is likely, that EOS will be my home for a long time… It has already replaced Manjaro on my disk. My criteria were, that it has to be a KDE distro and, if possible, based on Arch (I use the AUR heavily and contribute there, and I am just not a fan of having to use snap, to get common packages…).
As for me, I am in my 40s, own an IT business and work on Software and Web Development, Copywriting and book writing. I actually did write a book about openSUSE which was published in 2016.
welcome to the purple community EVERYONE on here is super cool/friendly (from my personal experience which is great. always helpful and a lot of good artists on here as well who make some really cool endeavouros graphic design. help is always here, people are always quick to get back to me whenever i have an issue.
I should mention that the EOS community has been amazing as well. I have messed with EOS before and the few times, I needed help, this has been the place to be, to get it. I dual-booted Cassini Nova for a while, until an update broke it and I stuck with Manjaro… just lately got tired of it… and let’s be honest: purple is much cooler, than mint green or teal or whatever it is…
I also edited my initial post, as I meant to say, I used openSUSE until 2019 and not since 2019… I been on Manjaro since 2019.
