Hello Another refugee from Distro_Of_Month_Club_LOL :)

I have been running EOS with KDE/Plasma desktop for about 5 days now.
Had some growing pains and actually stuck with EOS on the 4th install.
I was looking just one more distro that i could settle with for a while.

Came from Fedora, Opensuse, LinuxMint (which i like) MXlinux, and Manjaro but that never made it as it failed checksum in4 attempts.

I a EOD Noob and do see how the community is much more emgaged than most and even friendly! LOL!!

Looking forward to continuting and actually enjoying this Distro for a long while.

Since i have been here (i am not expert a mere student!) i have just searched the forum and found a solution to my printer driver problem (from the German forum!), Fix the Bluetooth issues with KDE, installed Timeshiift, updated the repos and system a few times. Kept a log of my changes with the Complete Idiost Guide (thats money!) and this is my post on my Shiney new EOS Kde system.

My laptop is an HP ELitebook 840 w i7, 16GB and 500GB SSD. I run a doc station at home and all working except the HDMI monitor off the doc. My external logi cam, sound and lan network are all good.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to more in the community!

Ciao for now

Welcome @cmcacioppo
Seeing that you have come from some other linux distro’s I would think you have learned somethings along the way. Of course there’s more to learn and it never stops.

Could be the dock, could be the cable depending on the cable spec or could be another issue.

Welcome to the EndeavourOS forum. I hope you enjoy your time here.

Oh, a Unix brother. I started using Unix since about 1975 or 1976 as I worked for Western Electric (the manufacturing branch of AT&T) at the time.

Well you probably got a lot more experience than i do. I had a lot of time with modems back in the day and dsl and now I’m on the Fibre Rocket. :rocketa_purple:

Edit: Once you land on EOS your refugee status is over!

Some noticeable group of Seniors with related technical experience, I see.

My introduction was via IBM360 and APL (dabbled in Fortran earlier)

Bravo EndeavourOS !

Yes sir. Back in that day the Bell company i worked for had 370s and dasd and tape for miles !! LOL!

So to close this issue, out, i replaced the HDMI cable w new, high speed one. NADA. Replaced no name doc with a real ANKER 13 in 1 doc. It works! Laptop screen can happily mirror to external 4k monitor off doc and now i can start my laptop direct to the screen on doc from cold startup!

I knew it was the doc since i never really worked well but did function.

This doc is far and away, much better.

Loving EOS / KDE for over a week now.

best regards!
